Why study art and design?
The level 3 diploma in art and design is a two-year course, designed to build on your knowledge and skills in art and design and introduce you to the extensive range of creative disciplines available to you. This diploma is the equivalent of three A Levels.
The first year will provide an opportunity to experiment with all disciplines and learn new skills that will inform your independent practice. The second year will encourage you to specialise in a particular discipline. You will leave this course with the confidence, skills and independent approach required to work within the creative industries.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed by a range of methods, including assignments, external assessments and practical observation.
Future careers and pathways
Following this qualification you can progress on to a foundation diploma in art and design, take a higher education course such as a degree in fine and applied art, a degree in fashion or a degree or foundation degree in graphic design or graphic communication design. You may alternatively choose to seek employment in a related field.
What are the entry requirements?
- Four GCSEs at grade C or above, including English, and an arts-related GCSE such as art and design, graphic design, CDT or textiles
- A vocational qualification such as BTEC Level 2 Diploma at merit grade or above
